During the months of May and June 2019, 4 Midlands based artists will be using the Mustard Arts shop unit to explore the theme of 'trade'. Within this time restricted brief the artists will be asked to make site specific responses to the market and the communities that use it. All artwork made will be displayed at Mustard Arts for a week, and a public workshop or talk will be programmed responding to the installations.

Mustard Arts will be turning into a pop up ‘selfie’ studio. Join photographer David Rowan for this opportunity to be a part of a photographic portrait of Chelmsley Wood. Each participant will become part of the exhibition and get to take a copy of their portrait home. Self Portrait of Chelmsley Wood will be on display at Mustard Arts until Saturday 1 June. Free Workshop: Saturday 8 June 1 – 3pm Textile artist Lorna Rose will be drawing with stitch to create a site specific artwork inspired by the indoor markets and it’s local community. Victoria will create artwork in response to the time she has spent at Mustard Arts in the indoor markets and inspired by her interactions with visitors, drop by and say hello whilst she works.

Using the Kings Norton Library as a base for offsite fieldwork, artists Aimee Bourne and Emma Bowen will spend 4 days across the summer researching and documenting journeys around the local area.
